A Veterans Day Tribute from Dr. Happe Medical Aesthetics
Happy Veterans Day! Each year on Nov. 11, we salute our veterans and their loved ones. On this day, we want to recognize and thank those who have served our country honorably. Did you know that in 2022, there are an estimated 19 million veterans living in the United States? As a service-disabled veteran, Dr. Holly Happe, who now provides advanced aesthetic procedures and advises patients on the most effective cosmetic treatments for the Boston area, understands the challenges that are often faced by those serving our country at home and abroad. She was a captain in the medical corps of the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 2001.
As we celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of our veterans, let’s explore a bit of history. Some people may not understand why we honor former service members on this day. Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day, marking the end of World War I, which was known at the time as “The Great War,” in 1918. An armistice went into effect between the Allied nations and Germany on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, which is why this day—11/11—is celebrated as the day that marked the end of the conflict.
In 1954, following WWII and the Korean War, the name was changed to “Veterans Day”—a federal holiday that is dedicated to American veterans of all wars. The name change was an attempt to be more inclusive and recognize the younger generation of American veterans.
Dr. Happe’s patients know her for her experienced approach to aesthetics, the beautiful and natural-looking results she achieves, her empathetic connection to her patients, and her commitment to making treatments as comfortable as possible as a board-certified anesthesiologist focused on minimizing pain.
We wanted to make sure everyone also knew her as a U.S. veteran! Please join us in honoring her today.
