What are Dysport® and Xeomin®?
Like the related BOTOX®, both Dysport® and Xeomin® have botulinum toxin as their active ingredient. This chemical is made by the Clostridium botulinum bacteria. When purified and carefully injected, it relaxes muscles for months at a time. The temporary effect reduces the appearance of certain wrinkles.
Though all wrinkle relaxers have the same basic formula, they also each have unique properties. One takes effect sooner than the others. Another is better suited for treating a larger area. The right neuromodulator for you will depend on your individual needs.
What Conditions Can Dysport® and Xeomin® Treat?
Facial lines that form due to repetitive muscle activity are known as “dynamic wrinkles.” Both Dysport® and Xeomin® are designed to address these lines. What is the Newton Dysport® or Xeomin® Experience?
Dr. Holly Happe helps each patient to get the best results possible by starting with a personalized consultation. This visit will include her taking a complete medical history and performing a facial examination. The treatment plan will be based on her observations and an honest discussion about cosmetic goals.
Since Dr. Happe is a board-certified anesthesiologist, pain minimization is a key part of every treatment she administers. This includes Dysport® and Xeomin® injections. She will work to make sure the experience is as comfortable for you as it can be.
The session itself typically lasts less than a lunch break. Dr. Happe’s preferred approach is to make modest adjustments to the face. These allow for a more natural look. The changes can also be made more dramatic after a two-week follow-up visit, if desired.
There will be some slight discomfort in the treated areas following the injections. This sensation, along with any bruising, will fade naturally. The exact timing of visible results depends on the patient, as well as on whether Dysport® and Xeomin® is used. Generally, a smoother look will start to be apparent anywhere from one to 14 days (although generally within about a week). Results can last for months. A new round of Dysport® and Xeomin® injections can be made to preserve the look.
